Bring along some food to share with others on SATURDAY 2nd June at 12o’clock. Drinks will be provided for everyone. Musical entertainment, games and singing, red white and blue are the colours of the day. The hall and London Road will be decorated with bunting and flags. Results of the scarecrow competition will be announced. Also bring along any items that you purchased in 1952 or photos taken at that time, magazines or newspapers. We look forward to seeing you all.

The AGM of the Village Hall Management Committee will be held in the main hall at 7:30pm this coming Thursday, 8th March. Everyone is welcome, come and hear how we are using the Hall and our plans for this year.

We are seeking ideas for the two events. Please let us know what you would like to happen – so far we are planning for “Royal Scarecrows” to be ready by 21st May, let us know if you are making an entry, we have purchased huge amount of bunting, flags and other decorations, on sale at the next coffee morning on 10th March at competitive prices. Our plan is to decorate the front boundary of properties along London Road, with owner’s permission of course, and the village hall. It is hoped that a new village sign will be ready before 2nd June. A summer fair is planned for Saturday 2nd June in the playing fields Courteney Road. Please make contact with us, we would love to hear from you.

Another new activity in the hall. Susan Owen is planning to start sewing classes to cover making items for the home, how to use those sewing machines, how to renovate old clothing etc. etc.

She is flexible on times and days so you may be able to influence when the classes are held.

Following a very successful start up period we now seek new members. We meet just once a month for a couple of hours to plan activities and discuss ideas. If you would like to be part of the development of localism and activities within Dunkirk we would like to hear from you. Next year is going to really exciting with the visit of the Olympic torch and we want the event(s) to become part of the history of the village.
